Canada

Sited a few hundred miles south of Montreal, the Willow farm gets less than six hours of daylight during the winter months. In January, the Volts Energy solar company Renewable IPP switched this 10-acre farm on, making it the largest in the state.  The farm is made up of 11 rows of panels  that were the farm’s pilot project.

Samir had a lot on his plate. His company, Volts Energy, had to clear a one-acre piece of land, set 132 concrete piers in the ground, assemble over 50 tons of steel framing and attach one and a half miles of aluminum rails. After that came the easy part: installing 1,080 solar panels to supply energy for the newly built Medical Professions and Teachers Preparation in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Volts Energy completed its retrofit and installation of Solar Panels on the roof of it’s building at north Los Angeles as well as carports in the employee parking lot. Senior management at Volts Energy state that the panels will supply the company with 60% of it’s monthly electrical needs reducing the costs and dependence on the local electrical grid.
